Ambrose's Diaries - Blog Entry #5

Mom's in a bad mood, so I'd better stay out of her way.

I'd better give you the full story here to avoid confusion....

She decided to save some money and try to fix my computer.
But that was just the start of her problems.

Luckily, she didn't get zapped like me, but it threw up some nasty sparks, none the less.

On top of that, whilst Dad & I were at work, she decided to cook up some chilli. (Well, I think, it was chilli)

And promptly set the stove on fire. Luckily for her (and us) with her quick thinking, she managed to put it out. (She was busy trying to turn back the clock by colouring her hair and forgot about the dinner cooking, but don't tell her I know that)

We got home to find a salad waiting for us and a long-lingering charred smell that poor Mom spent all afternoon trying to get rid of.

Oh dear.

Dad and I never said a thing when dinner was served. The grim expression on Mom's face was enough.

She's not very good with gardening either. With all the hours she works, and all the skilling time she puts in, sadly the garden was badly neglected.

I guess Dad & I weren't much help either. We don't seem to have 'green thumbs'. With my heavy clumpy feet treading about, I shouldn't wonder.

Oh well.

But that's not why I'm here. I have something else I have to share with you.

It's Winter here, and often the roads through to Riverblossom get blocked and the telephone lines go down with the weight of the snow on the cables.

When that happens, I lose contact with Kitty and I can't share anything with her. And I always feel bad, as she's stuck in the city, wondering about me. (well, that's what she keeps telling me anyway, but I know she's got plenty of friends)

Well, luckily for us, the snowstorm wasn't so bad this time and Kitty managed to come over to share our homework.

I'm not sure if it was the chill in the air.....

.... or the wolf at the front door making a terrible ruckus......
(I hate that animal, it's just so annoying, what it's doing here I really don't know)
It's always barking at our door, begging for scraps and stuff.

.... or the sharp, clear night.

Kitty was a bit miserable and needed cheering up. So I invited her over and we got chatting.

I held her hands and stuff like that (I learned that girls like that, well, Kitty does) and it made her smile. I like to see Kitty smiling anyway.

The evening was cloudless and decidedly chilly, but I could see that Kitty was shivering with the cold, so I gave her a hug.

It sounds really weird, but it felt just so right, hugging her close like that.

Well, I really don't know what happened after that, just that I suddenly wanted the urge to kiss her. Just to see what it was like.

Girls like kissing (or so I've been told, I've sneaked a peek at a couple of Mom's romance novels).
All I can say is....

.....EWWWWW.......

All that drivel about the 'passion driven in his loins, that made her bosom heave with perspiration'....

...... where do these writers come up with stuff like that???

Anyway, I'm going off track here.
I leaned across and pressed my lips to hers, expecting some major miracle.

..... and......

It felt weird, standing outside, near the mailbox, but oh well. Guess it's as good a place as any.

It was 'wet' and a bit 'sloppy', Kitty's lips were cold from the frosty night, but it made her smile even more. I swear she even went brick red too.

I think it was the cold night air really. It was a bit chilly that night.

And that made me happy.

We're 'going steady' now.

That should make Mom happy. She knows Kitty very well anyway.
At least she won't be screening all the other girls in my life.
And bringing out that dreaded baby album every single time!!

Thought I'd share that with you guys.

I'd better go now, get some more practice on the barre.
I have a feeling that I'll up for a promotion pretty soon at work.

Can't wait.

I see you're all wondering about Kitty?
Oh, she's coming over later to share our homework.

Honestly.

Hey, what do you lot take me for? I share a house with Mom and Dad, doesn't that tell you something???

Logging off now

Ambrose
