Ambrose Sees The 'Perfect Gift'

The next day, whilst Ambrose was at work, Ginny quickly did the housework, and soon got bored. Desperate to get out of the house, she decided to take a wander down to the park to maybe meet and greet folks. Sure enough, there just happened to be one Sim wandering aimlessly about, probably doing the same thing she was. Desperate for a little social activity.

Tom Shallow.

They got along famously, swapped phone numbers, and went along their merry way. Later that evening, after Ambrose had collected his first wages, he decided to pay the consignment store a visit. After all, new stuff was so expensive. And being on such a tight budget from his new job, he knew that it would be difficult getting little 'luxuries' for Ginny to make their home more 'homely' and pretty. Besides, he really wanted to get Ginny something special.

As soon as he walked through the doors, there it was. A drawing table, just a few dents and scuffs, but nevertheless, it was just perfect for Ginny. He'd heard how she fancied being an Architect some day, but couldn't afford the pricey drawing table, no matter how much she'd scrimped and saved.

Ambrose gazed longingly at it, before approaching the counter, where Hunter Cottoneye was manning the cash register.

"How much for the table?"

"Sorry son, it's not for sale."

"But it's standing there....!"

"The boss insists that it stay there for folks to make a quick Simolean with their drawings. See?"

At that, somebody walked in and started sketching on a sheet of paper.

"He comes in almost every day after his shift, along with a few others. It's a great magnet to lure folks in so sorry, can't sell it to you. Perhaps I can interest you in something else? We do have new stock coming in daily."

"Um, thanks, but .... I'll pass."

At that, Ambrose went back home, a little dejected and empty-handed. He hadn't pre-warned Ginny about his little 'surprise', just in case it got her hopes up. But still, he felt as though he'd let her down. Ginny, attuned to Brosie's moods, wrongly thought that he'd had a bad day at work, and suggested that they go look at the stars for a while.

That pepped up Brosie's mood somewhat as they sat talking quietly and snuggling up together.

She clearly understood the money problems they currently have. And she'd been thinking very hard whilst she was making a quick snack for herself. Maybe she should get herself a job. She'd considered joining the Police force. But decided against it as another idea came to her. It wouldn't pay much in wages, but it'd be a start.

It was just a matter of approaching Ambrose and telling him her plan.
