Social Do's, Skilling, Special Dates, Blending In and Some BBQ Ribs

I know this is a very quick update from the last one, but I really MUST share this with you.

I managed to chat and socialize with my neighbours, and most of them are really nice. I noted one who was VERY familiar. I seem to have seen/read about her somewhere, but I simply can't place her as such.

Anyway, 'nuff said about that, it'll come to me sooner or later.

I'd been very busy, organizing all my furniture, making sure everything was in it's correct place. I revamped the old kitchen, moving the units along, removing that breakfast bar, just to make room for my table & chairs.

Thank goodness for those student grants I'd been saving, and the fact that I'd been buying and storing furniture all the time I was in college. (pretty smart huh?)

So, whatcha think? Nice? I'd like to think so.

I've converted the spare room into an exercise room until we decide whether we're going to start a family or not.

And I simply ADORE, the little patio/terrace outside. Perfect for a table & chairs and sitting out in the sun, watching the world go by.

I decided, after moving all the furniture, to checked out the jobs section and BINGO!!! After only 2 attempts (the first one was a mistake, really and didn't exactly appeal to me), I managed to nab the job of my dreams. The only thing is.... I need more friends, my skill levels are adequate enough. So that's when I decided to join everyone up on the roof for drinks and a little dancing.

I just happened to look across and I can see the house where Mom & Dad are now living. (I hope they haven't got a telescope trained over here, checking on me LOL)

Everything went as smoothly as possible but I swear, those drinks really DO get to you after a while (and I'd only had the one, potent stuff, really). So I made my excuses to fill (or in my case, empty) my needs.

One guy even told me that the place could do with some soda dispensers (as he'd heard that other apartment complexes have them). As I'm fairly new, I really didn't want to upset the landlord with any demands and requests, so I just nodded in agreement anyway and smiled.

Just as I was washing my hands, Dorian, bless him, called me. Since moving into my apartment, he's been calling me constantly, asking how everything is going, if I've settled in okay, the new people I've met.

Well, he said he really missed me and wanted to know if I was up for a social gathering somewhere. He let me choose the venue, which was nice of him. He also made me laugh too, telling me he'd been watching Sumo Wrestling on the TV and wondered if he was a likely candidate.

I'd heard so much about this Secret Laboratory I'd been given access to, so I decided to choose that place. Just to check it out (and boost up my flagging Science hobby).

I was so nervous, really, as everyone piled out of the taxi. Think about it. Surely, out of all the community lots to visit. I choose a Lab????

Whilst I was there, I dunno. I was kind of ... caught up in the moment. Dorian and I hugged and kissed as if we haven't seen each other in months (it had been only days).

Dad looked as though he disapproved of Dorian. Strange, I know, considering they've been college buddies for years. Guess he was just being the 'over protective' dad.

Then, and only then did it happen.

I know I'm denying Mom & Dad the HUGE wedding that they'd had all organised for me. But I was caught up in the moment.

Dorian and I decided to get married.
There and then.
In the moonlight.
Outside the Secret Laboratory.

We exchanged rings, and Dorian (he's such a sweetheart really), took my name. So now, he's known NOT as Dorian Long.... but Dorian Graystone.

And to celebrate, I cooked up some ribs on the BBQ and the rest of the group played kicky bag etc.

Funnily enough, a policeman turned up and I was so certain that he was going to break up our 'rowdy' get together. But that didn't happen, as he told me he only came for the ribs.

Oh, and to congratulate Dorian and I on our nuptials too.

Dad, bless him, got caught up in the moment too, and was showing off his 'hang loose' greeting to anybody who was within 'greeting' range....

... with hilarious results. Most of them scratched their heads with amusement. Others tried to copy him, with little success. It was nice to see Dad getting along with everyone. Taking him out of the house and all those kids lol.

I played around with the equipment before feeling really really exhausted and breaking up our group. There was no way I could have managed to entertain everyone whilst I was practically asleep on my feet!!!

All in all, it was a fun time for everyone.

Even Cleve agreed that he'd had some fun and enjoyed this outing, which pleased me no end.

There's only one downside to this new arrangement though. Dorian STILL has to stay at college to complete his 4 year stint and graduate. And I've got to 'keep house' until he does. But the saving grace is this....

... at least he's halfway through college already. Which is good.

I felt a pang of regret, as I watched Dorian's taxi pull away. Two years is a dang long time to wait for someone, and I really REALLY don't want him to flunk out either. In my eyes, education is extremely important.

So, to break me out of my sad mood (and wait for my own taxi), I decided to analyse the metal sculpture outside the lab. Hmm.... interesting piece of work.

I almost fell into bed, that's how exhausted I was, and slept all the way through. Thank goodness it was my day off from my new job, and I didn't have to start there until 1pm.

More news on the 'Home Front'.

Dad and Mom are having difficulty with all the toddlers.

Thomas, unable to hang on any longer, wet himself before Dad could get him out of the crib. So he created hell when Dad tried to potty train him.

Susan, greedy little devil she is, couldn't wait for Mom to get her a bottle of her 'special milk', and drank the sour stuff that Cosmo had had earlier, earning her a vomiting session.

Out of the two boys, Cosmo is the most bad tempered and impatient one, although he simply adores the Charisma Bunny and can sit for hours playing with that thing.

Europa.... hmm, she's fairly quiet. Loves Cleo to bits though.

Bet Mom and Dad, never expected this much trouble. Especially now that they're looking after TWO sets of twins.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing Tristan and Violet when they reach their teen stages.

Must say ta ta for now, lots to do, skills to build, friends to make etc.

Helen
