Ambrose's Diaries - New Beginnings

Good morning folks. It's the start of a whole new day (and life for me).
I went house hunting the other week and stumbled across this little treasure.

Yes, that's my old family home. The place I was conceived, the place I grew up in.
It was a little dilapidated in places. The old terrace where I used to stargaze nightly, had rotted away in places. But the whole structure is still pretty sound.

So, after careful negotiations, contracts were signed and the old homestead is now officially mine.
I was so fortunate to have managed to buy some essential pieces of furniture, as this place took a massive chunk out of my savings.

Ginny was clever too, getting me (or rather, us) some graduation gifts of a television, a games console and a stereo.

As you can see, it's coming up to the end of Winter here. And whilst I was waiting for the removal men, I decided to do a little birdwatching.

But then, my mind went elsewhere.

To Ginny at college.

She'll be graduating pretty soon and hopefully we can organise our wedding and honeymoon together.

From what she's been telling me, she's struggling along, but doing fairly well.

I called into the old dorm to see her, and she looked stressed out.

I think she chose the wrong major in college though. I'd have thought she'd have chosen something like Psychology, as she has a knack for making people feel good about themselves.

Just the other week, she found Cleve in the doldrums his face tripping him up basically.
And she cheered him up, gave him a little encouragement.

Also, she's managing to do yoga in her spare time to relax.

Already, she's perfected all the positions. Even the most complex one at the very end.

Ginny told me that it's the only way to relax and keep her mind off things.

She impressed me with her contortions, that's for sure.

The removal men arrived and offloaded all our furniture (what little there is of it). In fact, I'm pretty sure I saw one of them smirk at the half a truck load. But still, it's ours anyway.

I hadn't realised there was so much space in the house, so it took next to no time to organise all the furniture and unpack everything.

In fact, it was still morning. So I decided to give Dorian a call and invited him over. I knew he had a free study day today anyhow.

Whilst I was waiting, I busied myself with the roses out the back. They were a little overgrown from years of neglect. Besides, I'm sure Ginny would love them when they bloom in the Summer. She has a thing about roses anyway.

It felt good to keep in contact with my old college buddies. Especially those who are prone to snowball fights and stuff.

We ended up going indoors as soon as that wintry bite got to us anyway.
After all, it's no fun playing in the snow, when all you're wearing, is a red tee shirt.

Oh happy memories of my youth, playing against each other on the console.

But, just when Dorian and I were having fun, the doorbell rang and outside stood a welcome party, consisting of Rose Greenman, Patricia Wan and Augustus Ghoul (from the Haunted House challenge).

It was nice to meet them all.

Considering that Rose is a 'creature of Nature', I thought I'd strike up a conversation with her about Nature.

Well, that struck a nasty chord and she went a little nutzo, crying out that she was sick of folks assuming that her hobby is Nature.

Well, that put me in my place, that's for sure.

Everyone was getting on well with everyone else. So I thought I'd greet another passerby, Richard Jones.

Nice chap.

However, things weren't all as they seemed back indoors.

Augustus was a little overenthusiastic with his playfulness and decided to prank everyone within a five metre radius.

Poor Dorian.

Seems Augustus was just a little too rough with him, and he burst into tears.
Dorian wasn't the only victim here though. Augustus targeted Rose Greenman too, with a joy buzzer.

That didn't go down too well.

By now, stomachs were rumbling, so I decided to serve dinner.
Nervous of setting the kitchen alight, I settled for a chef salad.

I know, I'm a wuss. But... better safe than sorry.

Whilst I was doing that, everybody gathered together for a nice chat.

Lovely.
And not a single mascot fight in sight.

That's one thing I will miss from college.

Speaking of which. I've got myself a couple of stalkers.
Gunnar Roque (listen man, those shades are definitely uncool)

And Jane Stacks.
You are going to freeze if you stand there long enough.

Please bear in mind, I haven't even met these two, nor even chatted online to them, so how they've tracked me down, is totally beyond me.

Hmm, must keep a close eye on those two.

Well, as soon as I served dinner, it was a mad rush to see who would grab the first seats.
Unfortunately poor Patricia was left standing, whilst all the males (including myself, I must add), grabbed a chair each and proceeded to munch our way through our meal.

I guess it was our primal instinct that kicked in. The proverbial ~ every man for himself ~

Quite literally, in this case.

I felt a little guilty, so I rushed down my dinner, just to make room for her. And funnily enough, everyone else did exactly the same thing too.

If you're wondering about the computer on the table. A kindly gentleman called Mr Humble was doing some deliveries and dropped it off. I didn't have the space to put it anywhere else, but on the table for now, until Ginny moves in (or I get myself a job).

The evening started to draw in and I was getting a little tired. My old Professor called to ask if I fancied a night out. I felt I had to refuse as there was still a lot to do.

I said goodbye to everybody, before settling down for the evening.
I had planned on taking a bath and relaxing with a good book.
However, one of our guests had broken the bath and there was water leaking all over the place.

So, before I could run the water, I had to fix it.

Wrapped in a robe afterwards, I decided to search for my 'dream job'.

Unfortunately it wasn't available, but I settled for one in the Military for now.
Fingers crossed that it'll come up soon.

Anyway, tired and exhausted from my first day as an independent adult, I slide myself into bed and get some well earned sleep.

Besides, it's a 7am start in the morning and I need to be completely refreshed and ready for work.

My job?

Counter Intelligence

Should be interesting.

Oh well, night all.
Signing out
Ambrose

P.S. Hopefully I'll be able to afford the heating in this place. As you've probably noticed, everyone was still wearing their outdoor clothing.
