Ambrose's Diaries - The Big Day

I spent the night sleeping badly, simply because I realised that Ginny would be arriving this morning and I wanted everything to be just 'so' for her.

Nervously, I paced about the bedroom, peering out of the windows and worrying non stop.
Thankfully, the last of the snow had melted, leaving the ground clear.

Sadly, that also meant that there was an invasion of weeds in my tomato patch, choking my poor seedlings to death.

But there are far greater things to worry about.

It's past 9am, and there's no sign of Ginny. She's out of contact reach, doesn't yet own a cell phone and is most likely travelling alone.

So, in order to keep my sanity, I decided to check out Virginia's expansive wedding list and give her a little bit of a surprise.

While she's busy organising the flowers, the wedding outfits, caterers etc, I'm going to take a little pressure off her and book the honeymoon. We had such a big choice. But I'm sure this destination will please her greatly.

Twikii Island.

4 days of pure unadulterated bliss, sunshine and total relaxation.

It was then that I heard her footsteps, coming up the garden path.

She apologised for being so late, but she'd had to go into town to pick up the wedding outfits.
While she was there, she met up with a few college buddies.

It appears that that particular clothes shop is a great hang out for college students.

As she was browsing, she came across a few items of clothing that were in the bargain bin. Reduced, simply because they were last years' stock.

Well, she couldn't resist a minor splurge (and who can blame her?)

What a smart girl.

After that, she decided to catch up on some college gossip, by playing chess with Tiffany Sampson, who, I have now discovered, loves to cheat and did so spectacularly with Ginny. Although Ginny did take it all in her stride anyway.

We decided on an 'at home' wedding, with our own catering.
After all, what's the point of a covered terrace, if you're not going to use it at all.

I think it was wedding day jitters, but as we were waiting for our guests, Ginny decided to do a little gardening, clearing up those choking weeds from the tomato plants.
I would have protested, but she's been so distracted lately that I had to indulge her anyway.

So, after organising the party and the guests, we decided to tie the knot.

Once again, due to ill health, Mom and Dad couldn't attend, but I've made sure that there are plenty of photos for them to look at anyway.

It was a small ceremony, with just a handful of friends from college etc.

Luckily for us, the weather held up, and it was a bright, sunny, Spring afternoon.

We exchanged our vows.

They were quite touching really, almost brought a lump to my throat, that's for sure. Vowing to be together for all eternity and to be aware of both our needs, through thick and thin. To support each other through difficult stages in our lives.....

We exchange rings. I could feel Ginny's hands trembling as she slipped mine onto my finger.
It was endearing, really.

After the ceremony, I kissed her tenderly. I'd never felt so much love for this beautiful woman.

Shame Mom wasn't here to see this. She'd have been moved.
I must admit, Ginny did a good job, organising all the balloons, the flowers etc.

And I've never seen a bride looking so radiant, as my Ginny.
But what's this?

A red glowing wedding ring icon?
Surely not?
I thought Ginny was a Family/Popularity Sim!!!

This doesn't bode well at all.

I hope this isn't a forerunner of things to come.
I hope those smiles of hers aren't grimaces and that she's not just going through the 'motions' of this wedding.

We had a few toasts from our friends, Dorian and my old Professor too, wishing us well for the future.

And then it was time to cut the cake.

I half expected Ginny to shove a huge piece into my waiting mouth, but she just lifted a forkful gently to my lips.

That scare over her fear of getting married to me, soon dissipated as I felt her love for me radiating from her.

But then.

Just when thought that things couldn't get any better.

They suddenly turned for the worst, as the party became a fiasco of epic proportions.
Drunk from the excess consumption of champagne, and bladders reaching critical level, once by one our guests began to leave.

Not only that, the limo for our honeymoon, failed to show up.
So Twikkii Island never got our seal of approval after all.
And Ginny was so looking forward to it too. It had been her dream destination for a long while.

I was so devastated after the clear up that I burst into tears.
Oh the horror of having a lousy party. I am sure we're going to be the butt of everyone's jokes here.
The Graystone's, organisers of rotten parties.
Sitting in our kitchen, having our wedding breakfast alone together.

I can't imagine what's going through Ginny's head. She'd planned this all so carefully too.

So, to compensate, we decided to consummate our marriage, here at home.
Snuggling up together on the bed, we reflected on our future together.

And yes.

We did it.

I held Ginny's hand, grinning like a schoolboy and watched as she drifted off, exhausted from the events of today.

No matter what obstacles will get in our way. Nothing will change what we have between us.

I managed to catch up on some sleep too.
But Ginny became a little restless through the night, feeling a little peckish.

Do you suppose she's carrying some good news for us all?

After all, she is looking a little 'radiant'.

This is Ambrose, signing out, a newly married man now, no matter what happened today, they can't take that away from me.

Cheers for now.
