Quality Time With Dad

Dad's settling in quite well in his new place. He hasn't e-mailed many pics as he is basically hoping that his and Mom's 'problem' will soon right itself.

All I know is it's a nice little two-bedroom (pre-fabricated) bungalow, not far away and within walking distance to Mom's place. He tried to decorate it but he feels he sucks at that job BIG TIME and just settled for whatever paint/wallpaper he could lay his hands on at the time.

I was right about the twins. They're a handful and by the time they finally fall asleep, it's almost breaking dawn for Dad.

He spends most of the time asleep in the lounger in the nursery, just to make sure he's there when he's needed.

He managed to hire a nanny to help out. And she's been a great help too. A little lazy at times, but she's pretty good at keeping them well fed and their bottoms clean and dry.

He's doing okay at work, still no signs of a promotion yet, although there are a few opportunities with 'chance cards' that he often ignores. It's just his 'friends' quota he needs to meet. And we all know Dad, he's painfully shy at the best of times.

He does his best, hosting 'soirees' and informal dinner parties for guests, but I don't think his chef salad actually goes down that well, judging by the looks on some of their faces.

Dad felt a little bad about the sudden split with Mom, so, he decided to take Tristan and Violet on a vacation to Twikkii Island.

He got in the waiting taxi and headed off to pick them up, they were so excited when they told me.

Dad booked them all into the Blossom Wood Hotel. A fairly reasonably priced hotel.

They were greeted by a smartly dressed bell-boy, who was happy enough to accommodate them. Tristan and Violet were impressed with his smart uniform.

A family run place with suites that suited families as well as single folks and a swimming pool outside. (to which Violet couldn't resist utilizing, followed by Tristan)... don't they look cute in their swimwear?

Especially with Violet and her little ducky swimming ring. Bless her, she's only just learning to swim.

Dad was greeted by a local, in their custom, but he looked a little confused. So he tried but couldn't get the hang of the 'greeting' hang loose. Violet told me that he was wobbling all over the place, but the local guy he was practicing with, was ever so patient.

(yes I know, it looks as though the guy is shoving his finger up Dad's nose LOL)

But he finally got it, and Tristan and Violet think our Dad is 'cool' now and can't wait to get back home and brag about it.

Because there aren't any eating facilities at the hotel, Dad ordered Room Service whilst he freshened up.

They had burgers which were VERY tasty, according to Tristan. They should be eating out after that, weather permitting. Apparently, at this time of year, there are many tropical storms a-brewing. Hope that doesn't ruin the vacation too much.

Dad wanted to go exploring on a tour, so he left the twins in the capable hands of the staff, whilst he went on a glass bottomed boat tour. He enjoyed it tremendously, gaining a logic point at the same time for his quick thinking (a film director had lost his underwater camera and the tour group including Dad, helped to find it). He's really pleased with himself because he's just one point away from maxing out his Logic skills.

Whilst he was away however, Violet and Tristan got up to no good. He told them, when he went for the minibus, to be very good. And, with those innocent faces, looking up at him, they promised faithfully.

Yeah right. Where have I heard THAT one before?

Once the minibus was out of sight, Violet led the way, (she's a major instigator, I swear), jumping on the bed.

Well, Tristan, usually the quiet, sensible one....not to be outdone, decided to follow suit.

That is until dad walked through the door. I can't imagine their faces, really. But at least Violet wasn't mean enough to lay the blame on Tristan. Besides, Dad knows who the 'troublemaker' really is, he caught her once before....

Bless them though, at the end of the day, they were very good and went to bed because they were totally exhausted.

Hard to believe, looking at those innocent faces, at just how naughty those two can be when they're left to their own devices.

So Dad had a chance to socialize with a few folks in the meantime.

And chill out and think about how to solve this problem he and Mom have.

That was just Day One of the vacation. They've still got 2 more days left, with Dad wanting to learn a massage, learn the Hula dance and explore the place.

The tour guide suggested the Pirate Ship, so, before they leave, he's treating Tristan and Violet (if they're good), to a day out there. Let them explore and have some fun. Who knows, they might meet up with a ghost!!!!

Violet couldn't resist taking some pics, and Dad, caught up in the moment, was caught making 'moose ears' and pulling faces at the camera.

They all look so relaxed and happy there. I'm so glad that they're all making an effort to keep this family together (to some degree).

Catch up with you soon.
Helen.

P.S.
On another note, one of Dad's work colleagues dropped by before Dad took his vacation.... and Dad told me the guy is extremely vain. He actually dyes his hair!!! Underneath that dark thatch, he's completely white (trust me, just look at his eyebrows, weird).

Dad never said anything, he needs to complete his 'friend' quota badly, so he stayed quiet.
Thank goodness Violet wasn't there. She's sure to have opened her big mouth at some point, that I do know....
