Ambrose's Diaries - First Day at Work, and other Events

It's early morning, the birds are singing, there's a light dusting of snow on the ground.
Winter may be drawing to a close, but that doesn't stop the snow from falling intermittently.

And it's my first day at work in the Military.

I was actually surprised that I'd been accepted, due to my short-sightedness and my dependency on wearing glasses. But, as it is, I passed my physical with flying colours and was instantly placed in one of the top ranking positions available.

I was so nervous of my first day, that I was almost tempted to skip breakfast altogether, but decided to snack on some of yesterday's leftovers instead.

I must have gotten up far too early, or time really seemed to slow down, as I found myself hanging around waiting for the car pool.

So, still dressed in my dressing gown, I decided to kill time by playing Sims 3 online. Yes, I know. I look somewhat fierce there. Well, Sims 3 is an intensive game to play.

I really got hooked on that one that I almost didn't hear the car pool arrive.

After a quick spin, I changed into my work clothes (or snazzy uniform, in this case) and headed out of the door.

Now don't I cut a handsome figure here?

After carefully navigating through many discarded snack trays and soda bottles.
Sheesh, hasn't anybody heard of recycling?
I managed to get settled in the terrain-weary jeep and hoped that I'd enjoy my first day.

It went well. I finished at 2pm, a little tired, but ok. I didn't get an instant promotion, due to the fact that my fitness level isn't up to standard, but still, I managed to get a decent wage.

With that, (and the fact that I rolled this want whilst at work), I decided to make a start in the garden, planting some tomatoes. I remember Mom, doing all of this when I was a kid. It seemed a shame to let the gardening go afterwards, so I decided to try my luck.

Whilst I was planting the seeds, yet another college Sim that I'd never met, happened to pass by.

None other than Jonah Powers.
I've heard all about his reputation, and allowed him to pass by anyway.

Not only that, once again, Jane Stacks walked past too. (stalker alert here). That girl really needs some help.

Besides, gardening is such dirty work that I was starting to feel a little grotty from it, and needed to take a bath.

But before I went for my bath, I received an email from Ginny, letting me know that she'd passed her finals and had graduated.

She was holding a party in the dorm, would I care to join her to celebrate?
Now would I?

I fair jumped at the chance.

I told her about my new job, and she sounded all excited. I also explained that I needed to have a quick bath before I got there. It's no fun working up a sweat and working with bags of really smelly compost.

The party didn't start till 8pm anyway, so I had plenty of time.

Had a nice soak in the bath, eased away those aching muscles and stuff.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It felt really strange, walking up those familiar steps and entering my old dorm.

I had a flashback to my very first day there, nervous and unfamiliar with my surroundings.

But the party was well under way, with Ginny and, surprise surprise, one of the Cow Mascots having some fun between them.

Those water balloon fights are a particular favourite of hers.

She had time to dance with me, but soon realised that my two left feet were better off getting a rest, so we retired to the common room and that old familiar couch again (isn't anybody going to replace that tattered old thing?)

Pretty soon, the party was over and Ginny had to give up her dorm room. By then it was time for me to go home.

She told me she had a few things to sort out, a few goodbyes and stuff, so she'll follow along shortly.

She told me that she was staying at a friend's house for the night, so, just before I left, I watched as she got into the taxi.

I couldn't help noticing the sad look in her eyes. And I swear there was a single tear, running down her cheek.

I just hope she loves our new home. After all, it was my family home for the longest time, and I hope she regards it as hers too.

I was still buzzing from the party, so I decided to do the crossword in the paper, and search once again, for my dream job.

I don't mind working for the military, but it's not a forever job anyway. My heart is set on Journalism.

The bad news is, that once again, Journalism eluded me once more. But never mind. I'll get there eventually.

I retired to bed a little later than usual, due to the fact that I have the day off the next day, so I'm entitled to a lie-in.

Besides, Ginny's arriving soon.

That's one thing I'm really looking forward to.
