Ambrose's Diaries - Blog Entry #11 - The Freshman Years - Part Four

Well, here's the proverbial shot of me dragging my feet, not really looking forward to my finals (well who wouldn't?) and hoping that, in my Freshman year, I make the Dean's list and not go on probation.

I've studied well, even over-studied my skills too. Wrote a very impressive term paper (according to the professor) and handed my assignments in on time.

What else could I do?

The exams were scheduled at 2pm, and would last for about 3 hours, which was long enough for me.

I know the wait was interminable, trust me, I couldn't wait for it all to finish myself.
But it did, and, to sound extremely immature.....

YAY!!!!!

I passed with flying colours!!! Making the Dean's list and earning myself a grant of 1,200 Simoleans in the process. Enough to pay the rent, those pesky bills and get myself some more art equipment.

And how convenient too. Speaking of bills, the postman just happened to arrive, in time, to drop a handful of bills in the post box.

I was so excited about passing, that I had to call Mom and give her the good news.
I'm not very good at picking up 'vibes' but to be honest, I think she's sounding very tired lately. But she insisted that I continue my studies anyway and not worry about her at all.

Dad got on the phone and had a chat too. He desperately wanted to clear the air between us, and suggested going for a hike. I'm afraid I had to put him off for a while due to a brand new term starting. But I told him I'd do it as soon as I had some spare time. He sounded disappointed, but he said he understood.

I must admit that Professor Sharlene is a very sweet, kind and helpful person.

She came to congratulate me on making the Dean's list. So while she was there, I asked for extra tuition and she happily obliged, telling me that she thought I was one of the best students she's had this semester.

We chatted a while, and I asked her a few questions.

It appears that she likes to travel, loves flowers and gardening and is especially fond of sports.

She especially likes to limber up on a morning, and was doing so when I went out to greet her.
She's a Pisces, with a turn on of Formal Wear and a turn off of Grey Hair.

We played chess, hung out a bit. She even made a point of meeting some of my dorm buddies.

She was particularly impressed with Dorian and his chess skills (don't worry, our secret is safe).
She did, however, tell me that it's going to get tougher as time goes on and I've really got to work hard.

And that was so true.

I discovered, for this semester, I've got to work on my body skills and my charisma skills. Especially when this semester, I've got to do nude pictures.

So I decided to give them a go.

Charisma, for me, is the most difficult skill to perfect, as I'm particularly shy amongst people. But, I've noticed how 'at ease' I am with everyone here on campus. I don't feel intimidated at all, as I realise that most folks are in the same boat as me.

We're all here to study and graduate, just so that we can all have a boost up the corporate ladder, well ahead of everyone else.

But I have to tell you, body skills are a total pain.

Especially when the college coach catches you unawares.

Man, I've just had a really strenuous workout, what more do you want from me??
I know the old adage, 'no pain, no gain', but honestly, there's no need to scream orders at me especially when I'm just paying the bills.

Everybody blames the cook, with her 'unhealthy' choice of meals on the menu (pancakes, omelettes, mac and cheese, chilli). But I'll stick up for her, given her age, I think she works far too hard. She arrives in the dorm about 4.30am and doesn't leave until about midnight or just afterwards. She's on her feet all day, without a single break.

And the stuff she has to put up with too.

........... annoying mascots.............

...........streakers................

Cleaning up everyone's mess (except mine)

Speaking of annoying things......

I've discovered a few annoying habits from some of my dorm buddies.
Especially Lila.

If it's not whistling inane little tunes randomly, it's playing with a puzzle game

Tiffany, however, beats them all.

I swear, she's just cruising through college, really.

I caught her the other day, her nose in a book, pretending to be studying, when in fact, hidden between the pages, was a really naughty novel she's sneaked in.

Sheesh, I really don't know what's going to happen to her.
She'll probably get a job thanks to a back hander from her mega rich daddy.
She appears that type.

At least she's managed to get out of that horrid kimono outfit.
Only because the nights are cutting in and we're having to wear our winter woollies when we go to class.

Ah, the joys of college life.

There's never a dull moment.

I'll catch up with you all later, hopefully by then, I'll have reached my Sophomore Year

Signing out

Ambrose
