A Blast From The Past - Ambrose and Virginia, the College Years

A big thank you to Julie for helping me with this dilemma I have.
Rather than take my original Sims 3 family and splitting them up, I've just taken a copy of Ambrose and Virginia, when they were still Young Adults. And I'm doing their back story.

When they went to college.

Twinbrooks. Ginny's parental home.
It's the day of enrolment into University and both Ginny and Brosie are nervous.
And slightly scared.

It was to be a big day for the two of them, in more ways than one.
They'd been friends for a little while, on/off boyfriend/girlfriend, nothing really concrete per se.
But, with the thoughts of them starting their academic careers in a university miles away from home, there was something that was bugging Brosie a lot.

He's not really the jealous type, and they DID agree to enrol at the same university together, provided they passed their aptitude tests ... and had enough money to pay for tuition fees. But Brosie was wondering, because they were meeting new people in a new environment, that maybe Ginny's eye would start wandering a little.

There were the proverbial Jocks on campus. A few of them would be quite good looking. And of course the Rebels with their 'don't give a damn' attitude. He was a Nerd - or at least assumed he was one, since he preferred to stick his nose in a few books and other nerdish stuff.

Maybe these other types might .... just might .... turn Ginny's head a little.

There was one thing for it.

"Brosie? You okay?"

Ambrose looked really uncomfortable and shuffled his feet.

"Nervous about Uni?"

There was a long pause and Brosie took a deep breath and gazed openly at Ginny.

"Um, Ginny?"

"Yes?"

He noticed the flush of excitement in her cheeks and realised that this was a 'now or never' moment.

"Brosie? You o ....."

He lunged forward and kissed her deeply, crushing his lips against hers. She gasped, but the gasp was lost in the heat of the moment. This had been a complete surprise ... and a first for the two of them. Until now, they'd only offered small pecks on the cheek and perhaps sharing a comfortable moment together, she watching TV, he reading a book.

But this....

..... this was .....

He pulled away and she gaped openly, still shocked. Now it was her turn to be take by surprise.

"Ginny?"

A long pause.
Too long.

Brosie wondered maybe that he'd possibly overstepped the mark here? That he'd blown it for good with her.

Until she grabbed his hands and pulled him in closer, crushing their lips together in a passionate, almost swoon-worthy kiss.

They drew apart, grinning stupidly at each other.

"I guess that means we're still an item," Brosie said quietly.

"You betcha," came the reply, "I wouldn't swap you for the world!"

The distinctive sound of the moving van brought a sense of reality to the two of them, as they realised that this was the next step in their young lives.

Whipping out his phone, Brosie pointed between the two of them.

"Want a pic as a reminder?" he offered.

As the flash went off, they locked lips to seal the deal. Then both checked the screen. Big silly grins on their faces.

"Hey, you don't look too bad there!" Brosie grinned.

"You're not too bad yourself," Ginny quipped back.

Taking their suitcases, they both headed for the moving van.

Time for them to go to college and a whole new adventure before them.

Need Your Input Re: Sending Sims to University in Sims 3

For many of you reading this blog, you're more than familiar with this family and all it's dramas. But I've come up with a dilemma here that I need your advice/input with.

As you know, in Sims 2, Ambrose and Virginia met in college, graduated, moved back home, married and started a family.

In Sims 3, sadly college was not an option. They met as Young Adults, got married and had their kids. Or at least some of them. The youngest - Tristan - is still a baby. All the rest are teens, all 3 girls. Helen, Violet and Susan.

I've tried sending Brosie back to college from his home town, but I've been met with disastrous results. There's a glitch in game that prevents Sims from seeing their class schedules.

So I was wondering.
Should I continue this path I'd started. Or shall I try and follow the original Sims 2 story and go back, before they had the kids and send them both to college as Young Adults. Maybe changing the colour scheme slightly so that it looks like a 'blast from the past' between them.

Any feedback will be welcome indeedy

Dorian Makes an Important Decision

I've just had word from Dorian.
Concerning life at campus.

He's been looking at his finances and decided that he wanted to have much more of an independent lifestyle.

So, he packed up all his stuff and moved out of the dorm, and into rented accommodation.

He called me as soon as he moved in and submitted these pics.

He said that it's only a small place, but he seems to think that it's just enough for what he wants.

The 'chill-out' room

The main part of the house, sitting room/kitchen/dining room combo

The bathroom

Two double bedrooms.

As we were chatting, he struck up a perfect idea.
He decided to apply for Greek House charter.

And got it.

Needless to say, the Greek House is a haven for students from all walks of life....

.... and the occasional streaker too *snigger*

He even suggested punk haired Cleve Inada as his first pledge, as they love spending time together. Trying to master the 'hang loose' gesture.

Playing 'toss football'....... at midnight .... in a thunderstorm - no less.

Eating pizza (Dorian's favourite thing at present) and studying.

Dorian however, was a bit of a smarty pants, getting the poor guy to do his term paper for him.
Playing chess and other pursuits.

Then, he decided to 'tinker' with an old beat up car parked outside.

I hope he's not thinking of giving me that as a present....

.... ewwwie....

Don't think the landlord will appreciate a hunk of rusty metal on his property.

Well, Cleve managed to spend enough time to qualify for membership, so, as he was the first official member, Dorian gave him a gift. Guess, by the expression on Cleve's face, that he was completely taken by surprise here.

Then, after Dorian retired to bed. The normally shy Cleve decided on a makeover, (remember that punk hair? It went bye bye)

Handsome fella now huh?

Then he decided to do a little working out, (I'm still concerned about that ballet outfit) and gaining a body point and flexing those muscles a bit.

So, there you have it.
Welcome to Oresha Graystone Frat House

Long live the traditions Dorian is going to set up (goodness knows WHAT he's got planned for all his pledges)

It's just a 'Healthy' Contest, that's all.....

It's coming up close to my graduation, so, as a last minute attempt to gain more skills, I decided to visit Sue's (secret) Kitchen, for a little healthy competition.

After all, she did invite me when she discovered that I was interested in cooking.

I just didn't realise how competitive these people are.

I met with Lisa, who diverged her cooking skills to me and I listened carefully, taking it all in (and gaining a friend at the same time).

Then, with trepidation, I decided to enter the contest.
With a Baked Alaska no less.

Whilst I was in the kitchen slaving over a hot oven, I hadn't realised how bad things were between the other competitors until AFTER the judging.

I saw the judge.
A very SERIOUS and stern looking man, and hoped that my Alaska was enough.

I was the first one there and proudly placed my dish on the table.

Along came Lisa with her Lobster Thermidor.

I could only feel with a sinking heart that this was going to be a tough contest.

Along came, what looked like a fast food chef, with her cheesecake, which looked really yummy.

Then, one of the professors, whose Berry Pie crust was golden and still steaming from the oven.

We waited nervously for the judge, as he tasted and savoured each dish.

Before pulling out his notebook and making some noted observations. Whilst through this time, we all squirmed in our boots and wrung our hands.

Then came the decision.

First prize went to....

Lisa, and her Lobster Thermidor.

I suspected she'd win, although it did deflate my ego a little bit. But she was happy enough.

I was so sure that I'd nailed it with my Baked Alaska, but it appears that the judge just doesn't have a 'sweet tooth'. Oh well, better luck next time.

But then IT happened.

The professor decided to start picking a fight with the fast food girl, accusing her of sabotage. Which upset the fast food girl no end.

I decided there and then to head out to class before the REAL fighting began.

Which, surprisingly enough, ended up in the ladies toilet... of all places.

Aww c'mon folks, it's just a contest... really....

And so endeth my adventures into the realms of cooking contests, bitchfests included.
*sigh*
Oh well.

************************

On another note however, I did see something that really made me giggle.
A vampire racing like hell to get home before he fried in the sunlight!!!

Something tells me that he wasn't there for the 'home cooking'.
